The United Kingdom has entered a period of national mourning following the death of the Queen at the age of 96. Tributes have poured in from around with world, with King Charles III expected to address the nation later today.
'You were my grandmother's idol' - handwritten tributes to the Queen
Touching messages are being left outside Buckingham Palace in tribute to the Queen, nestled amongst flowers and candles. "You were my grandmother's idol and we are here today because you gave so much to all of us," one handwritten note reads. "Thank you for every memory", it adds. A note from the Saund family says "Ma'am, we love you: our mother." Propped up behind a single candle is a picture of the young monarch in black and white, with a note that simply says: "The Queen of our hearts." One message from a child reads: "I love the Queen."
